Governing Council and Leadership Team


The Governing Council (the “Council”) at the Indus World Schools in India is made up of people with a wide range of experience and expertise including education, public policy, banking, medicine, law, accounting, business, and engineering. The members of the Governing Council have been drawn from a wide cross-section of the community, in order to provide the best possible leadership in executing the Schools’ vision, mission and values.

The Governing Council has three main areas of responsibility:


Policy Making

The Council determines the school's objectives and ensures that those objectives are appropriately achieved.



The Council sets the budget for each year and makes certain that the schools operate within its fiscal limits. The Council is also responsible for the proper management of School’s funds.


Appointment of the Head of School

The Council delegates all administrative functions to the Head of each Indus World School.

The Governing Council meets four times every year and all members sit on at least one sub-committee. Members of the Governing Council work hard to ensure that Indus World Schools in India evolve into centres of excellence for K-12 education in India.


Mr. Vijay Shukla

Member, Governing Council

Mr. Vijay Shukla is the member of the Governing Council at Indus World School. Having established multiple K-12 schools for his clients across the globe, Mr. Shukla is a leading figure in Education sector in India. Indus World School is an initiative close to Mr. Shukla’s heart wherein he envisions establishing schools which prepare talented, diverse students to pursue a college education and a lifetime of learning in order to make a difference to their country and to engage the 21st century world. He strongly believes that every child, regardless of socioeconomic status, or incoming academic level is capable of achieving academic success and it is every child’s fundamental right to be provided with an academically rigorous education. Mr. Shukla’s credentials include:

  • Work experience: EY, GlaxoSmithKline Beecham, and SAIL.
  • Education qualifications: B.Tech from IIT (BHU), MBA from XLRI.

Mr. Bharat Parmar

Member, Governing Council

Mr. Bharat Parmar is the member of the Governing Council at Indus World Schools. Having worked as a project management consultant for establishing higher education institutions and K-12 schools in India, Mr. Parmar is passionate about Education sector in India. Indus World School is an initiative close to Mr. Parmar’s heart wherein he believes that high academic standards require a ‘No Excuses’ approach. He strongly believes that every student at Indus World School will understand that their hard work and dedication will prepare them to succeed in every sphere of life. Mr. Parmar’s credentials include:

  • Work experience: Business Consulting roles with Wipro, Keane and BMR Advisors.
  • Education qualifications: B-Tech from IIT-BHU, MBA from IIM Lucknow.

In addition to the guidance from the Trustees, the Governing Council is supported by the Director Academics & Training and Director Administration of the Group and the Principal/Head of the School of the respective Indus World School.

Mrs. Vijay Laxmi Singh

Director Academics & Training

Mrs. Vijay Laxmi Singh is an acclaimed school administrator. Rich and varied experience has given her the right learning vertical to become an educational management expert and school leader along with sharpening her acumen as a curriculum developer. Her transformational role also includes her reputation as a fine Principal-teacher trainer in various spheres of education. She was selected by CBSE for conferring coveted “CBSE Award to Teachers for the year, 2014”.

Mrs. Singh earlier worked in various institutions as PGT, Vice-Principal/Principal. Specifically, she was the Additional Director, Training Vertical, Salwan Education Trust; Principal of G D Salwan Public School, Senior Academic Supervisor at St. George’s School and officiating Principal and Vice-Principal at S.D. Public Sr. Sec. School, Ambala Cantt. Additionally, she taught Political Science at Loreto Convent, Shimla.

Education qualifications: Graduation in Arts, from St. Bede ‘s College in English, Economics and Political Science. M.A. & M.Phil. in Political Science from Himachal Pradesh University. B.Ed. from Annamalai University.

Mukesh Balodhi

Director Administration & Community Development

Mr Mukesh Balodhi is an accomplished Administrator with an experience of more than 25 years in General Administration, Operations Management and Budgeting & Costing.


  • Demonstrated abilities in addressing operational issues, resolving bottlenecks and achieving the desired objectives.
  • Expertise in strategizing long/short term directions by forecasting future manpower requirements and planning for acquiring requisite skills and competencies.
  • Proficient in making Human Resource processes viz. planning, recruitment, training & development, employee welfare, performance appraisal management of diverse and cross cultural workforce.
  • Adept in ensuring smooth business operations as well as handling daily administrative work like procurement, hygiene, sanitation, safety, security, transport and travel etc.
  • Handling overall forecasting, budgeting, procurement, distribution and consumption of resources
  • Participating in development, implementation, evaluation & modification of administrative policies & procedures to optimize resource across various functions
